As reported by Deadline, Paramount+ has ordered an 8-episode D&D series from Red Notice director Rawson Marshall Thurber.
While details are slim, we know that Thurber is set to direct the first episode. eOne’s EVP of Scripted Television, Gabriel Marano, will oversee the project.
Deadline has also reported that:
eOne, the lead studio, took the project out in November, garnering interest from multiple buyers, with Paramount+ ultimately landing the show in a competitive situation. eOne and Paramount Pictures are partnering on the Dungeons & Dragons series after also co-producing and co-financing the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie directed by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley, which premieres March 31.
Now this is big, mainly because Comic Book is saying that:
Assuming that Thurber’s show is set within the same universe as Honor Among Thieves, it will likely expand on the Forgotten Realms, the iconic campaign setting home to hundreds of novels, adventures, and games.
It will just be a matter of time before we find out any other details about this series.
