It’s The Last of Us day, which means it only makes sense for HBO to release the first official trailer for their adaptation of The Last of Us. Last month, we got a small tease, but this time, it’s the full-blown trailer. The series comes from Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. It stars Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna, Storm Reid, Anna Torv, Jeffrey Pierce, Nick Offerman, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, and Con O’Neil. The original voice actors from the game Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson will also have undetermined roles in the show.

If you haven’t played The Last of Us, it’s one of the highest-rated and most narratively driven video games of the past twenty years. The game and series go like this:

Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

It takes place twenty years after a brutal mutation of a fungus has destroyed modern civilization and turned people into monsters. The Last of Us releases on HBO in 2023.
