Does anybody remember that old Monster Rancher anime back from 1999? Well, apparently, Nintendo wants to rekindle some of those old memories, but with kaiju in Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher. You can check out the announcement trailer for it below:
Kaiju Ranching: Fun and Apocalyptic Destruction for All Ages!
Bandai Namco Entertainment America recently released the announcement trailer for Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher above on YouTube. As you can see, it’s basically a farming simulator, but with kaiju. There’s something surreal about you commanding monsters the size of mountains to do mundane things like watering a farm or building a snowman the size of a skyscraper. That’s before getting into the fights with other kaiju that should be ending the world, and fusing them together to make new ones. And yet, there’s a strange charm to it. Kind of like Pokémon in some respects, really.
As for when we’ll get to play Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher? According to the end of the trailer, apparently, this game is coming this year in 2022. The release window doesn’t get any more specific than that, unfortunately. However, given that it’s already Summer 2022 as of this writing, it suggests that we likely won’t see this game until very late in 2022. Maybe Fall 2022, but more likely Winter 2022 because of how vague the release window is. This is just pure speculation though until we get some official confirmation. Take it with a grain of salt.
Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher: Details
Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher is the latest installment in the Monster Rancher game series for the Nintendo Switch. This game is actually a feat of a cooperative effort between Bandai Namco (the actual developer of the game), Koei Tecmo Games (Monster Rancher), and Tsuburaya Productions (Ultraman). As you might’ve guessed, the kaiju in this game are all from the Ultraman franchise from Tsuburaya Productions.
As for what this game is about? Well, Bandai Namco has a very short and vague synopsis in the video description of their announcement trailer. Check it out below:
“You’re gonna need a bigger ranch! Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022.”
Unfortunately, there is currently no way to preorder this game anywhere. Check back later to see if that option pops up on the Nintendo eShop.
