Are we entering the Cameron Diaz renaissance? The actress is apparently set to “unretire” from acting by joining an upcoming Netflix feature.
One of the biggest stars of the 90s and early 00s, Diaz last appeared on screen in the 2014 adaptation of Annie, a film she starred in with Jamie Foxx. Interestingly, the duo will reunite for Diaz’s return to cinema. She’s set to appear with Foxx in a new movie, aptly titled Back in Action.
In fact, Foxx himself made the official announcement of Diaz’s return. He posted an audio clip of the pair talking along with NFL star Tom Brady. (Brady knows a thing or two about unretiring.)
“I’m so anxious right now. I’m like pacing the room,” Diaz says in the clip before Foxx tells her has someone on the line who can offer some advice.
Back in Action comes from director Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses), who co-wrote the film with Brendan O’Brien. It’s said to be an action comedy, but specific plot details are being kept under wraps for now. Production on the film will begin later this year.
Diaz has dozens of credits to her name, including popular comedies like There’s Something About Mary and Bad Teacher, as well as franchises Charlie’s Angels and Shrek.
