Well, it looks like it won’t be long until we can finally see Evangelion 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time, and thus finally see how the Evangelion reboot anime films end. All thanks to GKIDS.
The Finale of Rebuild of Evangelion at Long Last?
GKIDS are proud to announce that they’ve acquired the NA theatrical, home video, and EST rights for Evangelion 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time. Apparently, GKIDS plans to release this 4th and final anime film in the Rebuild of Evangelion series in NA theaters sometime in late 2022. They don’t give any more specific a date than that. Hopefully, GKIDS will narrow down the date for us later this year.
In related news though, GKIDS are also announcing that they will bring Evangelion 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time to home media following the theatrical release. Here though, they give even less info about the release dates. They only mention that the release dates are “to be announced”. Presumably, GKIDS will start to give more specific dates after the anime film makes its theatrical debut. Tune in later to find that out when we do.
Evangelion 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time: Details
Evangelion 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time is the 4th and final installment of the Rebuild of Evangelion anime film series, which is basically a reboot of the original 1995 apocalyptic psychological drama mecha anime Neon Genesis Evangelion by Hideaki Anno. Anno is also the chief director of Rebuild of Evangelion, as well as the writer. khara (Rebuild of Evangelion, Mary and the Witch’s Flower) is the animation studio responsible for this anime film. Mahiro Maeda and Katsuichi Nakayama directed this 4th film. Shirō Sagisu is the composer responsible for the incredible music you hear in the anime films, including this one. Amazon Studios is licensing this anime film for streaming.
