As we know, the Hunger Games is getting a prequel that focuses on President Snow. And we know that Lionsgate is making moves in order to deliver President Snow’s untold story in the upcoming film adaptation of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. However, it seems we may now have a working title for the film. In an article from Illuminerdi, it seems the working title of President Snow’s film is Butterfly.

According to the same article, Butterfly is expected to begin production this summer. The film is a Hunger Games prequel based on the novel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. The film is set 62 years prior to the original trilogy and takes a look at Panem through Snow’s eyes long before he became the man we know and loathe today.

The retelling of events through another character’s eyes isn’t new in the world of Young Adults Fiction. We recently were given the gift of Midnight Sun from Stephanie Meyer. The retelling of Twilight through Edward’s perspective. However, this is the first time a film will be made.

According to Deadline, the film will follow Coriolanus Snow at the age of 18. The young Coriolanus is handsome, and, if you can believe, charming. Though his family has fallen on hard times, he sees a chance to change his fortunes when chosen to become a mentor for the Tenth Hunger Games. However, his dreams are dashed when he is assigned to mentor the female tribute from the impoverished District 12.

Francis Lawrence, who directed the last 3 Hunger Games films: Catching Fire, Mockingjay Part 1, and Mockingjay Part 2 will return to direct Butterfly. Also returning to the franchise are producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson. While Suzanne Collins wrote the book, Michael Lesslie is on board to adapt the story for the screen. Collins will serve as Executive Producer.

At this point in time, no casting has been announced for the film, however, we hope to hear some rumblings in the near future. Who do you think should take on the role of an 18-year-old President Snow? Let us know in the comments below!
