We’ve all seen Chris Hemsworth play the hero as Thor in the MCU films, but now in Mad Max: Furiosa, it seems he will get to prove his worth as a villain. Tom Hiddleston, eat your heart out.

Immortan Thor?

Chris Hemsworth playing Thor.
Now imagine that face playing a villain as dark as Immortan Joe.

Comic Book has just released a report confirming that Chris Hemsworth (Thor) will not just play a villain in the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel titled Furiosa, but actually, play the main villain to boot. It seems that in the book Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road by Kyle Buchanan (as reported by Slashfilm), producer and first assistant director for Mad Mad: Fury Road P. J. Voeten reveals:

“George saw Chris [Hemsworth] initially as a courtesy and then fell in love with the idea. He’s going to play totally against type, the lead baddie. Unfortunately, we’ve got to find all of our other characters that aren’t around anymore: a new Immortan, a new Bullet Farmer, and a few others.”

Considering how pretty much everyone on the planet recognizes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, this will be a pretty big step for him in the opposite direction. Finally, we’ll get to see how he does playing a Big Bad rather than a Big Good. Unfortunately, there’s no official information on what kind of a villain Hemsworth will play. We don’t have his role in Furiosa; we don’t have a character description, and we don’t have a name. Those are details we’re going to have to wait for another time.

Furiosa: Details

The closest we have to a Furiosa trailer until the real thing comes out.

Unfortunately, at this point, we don’t even have all that much info about Furiosa itself. All we know is that it’s a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road starring Imperator Furiosa (originally played by Charlize Theron, and to be played by Anya Taylor-Joy in the prequel) herself. The film is slated for release on May 24, 2024 (according to Deadline) after numerous delays. And that’s about it for now. Tune in later (much later) for more info on this film whenever we get it. You might want to bring some chrome spray though because it’s going to be a long wait.
