Well, it looks like we’re finally down to the final season of The Expanse. All the storylines Amazon Prime Video built over the past 5 seasons is now coming to an end. They’ve even got a new official teaser trailer to celebrate the occasion. Check it out below:
Amazon is proud to announce the 6th and final season of The Expanse via that official teaser trailer above. Said trailer also revealed a release date for this last season of hard sci-fi action and drama. Apparently, this last season will lift off for the final time on December 10, 2021. A new episode will release every week after that until the whole season finally ends on January 22, 2022 for a grand total of…6 episodes? Really? Huh, that seems short. Hope that’s not all of them.
Of course, this season of The Expanse, like the previous seasons, will be an Amazon Prime Video exclusive. If you want to watch it, you’ll have to shell out cash for an Amazon Prime Video subscription. If you already have an Amazon Prime subscription though, you’re all set.
The Expanse Season 6: Details
So what’s going to happen in this last season of The Expanse? Well, a lot, apparently, in spite of the fact that it’s only going to consist of 6 episodes. Again, I really hope that there are going to be more than just 6 episodes later because I find it hard to believe that everything can be wrapped up in just 6 episodes. The official synopsis from Amazon will clue you in better on why:
“The sixth and final season of The Expanse picks up with the solar system at war, as Marco Inaros and his Free Navy continue to launch devastating asteroid attacks on Earth and Mars. As the tensions of war and shared loss threaten to pull the crew of the Rocinante apart, Chrisjen Avasarala makes a bold move and sends former Martian Marine Bobbie Draper on a secret mission that could turn the tide of the conflict. Meanwhile, in the Belt, Drummer and what’s left of her family are on the run after betraying Marco. And on a distant planet beyond the Rings, a new power begins to rise.”
As you can see, there’s a lot of plot going on in The Expanse season 6. It doesn’t sound like something that can be resolved in only 6 episodes. Either we’ll get an incomplete finale with a whole bunch of loose plot threads, or there are more episodes incoming. Let’s hope for the latter.
Amazon Prime Video is embarking on their 6th and last season of The Expanse. This hard sci-fi military and political drama will finally start at the beginning of the end on December 10, 2021. Unfortunately, it will also only consist of 6 episodes released every week on Amazon Prime Video after that initial launch date. Hopefully, there will be more episodes later.
