1997’s I Know What You Did Last Summer became known as a classic teen slasher flick. While it didn’t reach the heights of Scream, it still gained a respectable cult following.
Now, Amazon hopes to tap into that following with a new I Know What You Did Last Summer series. Set in the present day, it takes the familiar beats of Lois Duncan’s original novel and transforms them into something new.
One year after the fatal car accident that haunted their graduation night, a group of teenagers find themselves bound together by a dark secret and stalked by a brutal killer. As they try to piece together who’s after them, they reveal the dark side of their seemingly perfect town—and themselves. Everyone is hiding something, and uncovering the wrong secret could be deadly.

I’m gonna go ahead and predict this trailer will be polarizing. Whenever Hollywood tries to “reimagine” a much-beloved property, there’s inevitably pushback. And for a slasher horror series… well, there’s definitely a lack of gore, thrills, or really scares in this first teaser. It really focuses on the setup of the series though. So hopefully, the show is just working to keep the more intense moments under wraps so they hit harder in real time.
I Know What You Did Last Summer is written and executive produced by Sara Goodman. The first four episodes arrive on Amazon Prime Video October 15, with new episodes airing each Friday afterwards.
