Disney first enthralled Star Wars fans with the opening of Galaxy’s Edge, an immersive theme park expansion focused on the galaxy far, far away. Now the House of Mouse is stepping it up even further. In full-on, Westworld style, guest can stay at the Galactic Starcruiser hotel beginning in 2022. The live-action role-play experience will truly be a first of its kind… But as Han Solo once told Obi-Wan Kenobi, “it’s gonna cost you extra.” A whole lot extra.

Despite being lauded as “the happiest place on earth,” Disney World is also chided for its ever- increasing prices. Granted, you get a lot with the Galactic Starcruiser experience. It’s almost as if you truly are on a ship; once you enter, you don’t leave until the experience is completed. The experience lasts for two days, and packs a lot into just forty-eight hours. But is it worth the multiple thousands of dollars it will cost you?

Here’s what you get with your Galactic Starcruiser voyage:

  • A two-night stay in a “well appointed” cabin, meals, (sorry, booze is not included), and “the opportunity to live your Star Wars story through exclusive experiences, missions, and activities;”
  • Entry into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Disney’s Hollywood Studios;
  • Valet Parking.

You can check out what your itinerary might look like HERE. So what’s this all going to set you back? Try over $4,800 for a two-night “cruise.” And that’s just for two people. If you have a family, the whole thing will run you a whopping six grand. Upgrade your cabin, add in drinks, souvenirs, and more….

Disney has spared no expense with the experience, but in doing so may have priced out a significant portion of the Star Wars fan base. It will be interesting to see how the hotel, er, ship fares at these price points. We’ll start getting an idea late next year when fans can officially begin their voyages.
