Ok, I know describing a movie as a “claustrophobic French sci-fi thriller” sounds like a bit of a word salad, but that’s what Oxygen is.

(And I didn’t even mention “space,” “amnesia,” or “lab rat” yet.)

Watch the trailer for the upcoming Netflix movie below and see for yourself.

See? It’s all there!

Here’s the official description of the film from Netflix:

Oxygen is a French survival thriller directed by Alexandre Aja. The film tells the story of a young woman who wakes up in a cryogenic pod. She doesn’t remember who she is or how she ended up there. As she’s running out of oxygen, she must rebuild her memory to find a way out of her nightmare.

Mélanie Laurent plays the woman at the center of the story. The 6 Underground and Inglourious Basterds alum also looks like the only non-flashback character. (Except the computer MILO of course). The responsibility of carrying a whole movie from inside a pod seems daunting, but from the trailer alone it looks like Laurent is up to the task.

Oxygen premieres May 12 on Netflix.
