The upcoming Borderlands film from Eli Roth is filling out it’s cast pretty quickly. From A-listers like Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jack Black to newcomers like Ariana Greenblatt. They’ve added Creed II star Florian Munteanu as Krieg. Krieg is the protector of Tiny Tina, who’s played by Greenblatt. Eli Roth had this to say about the casting.

Florian brings real humanity and multiple layers to a character who on the surface seems totally insane and brutally savage. Krieg was by far the most difficult role to cast, and Florian brought him to life and grounded him in a way that I didn’t know was possible. He’s going to be a brilliant Krieg and will fit in perfectly with our incredible cast.

Production on the film begins mid-April in Hungary. The film comes from Lionsgate and Craig Mazin wrote the latest draft of the screenplay. Following his performance in Creed II, Munteanu got the notice of Marvel, who cast him in the upcoming film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

It appears that the filmmakers have a great attention to detail and care for the franchise. This could shape up to be one of the best film adaptations of a video game out there. Obviously that territory isn’t well-tread by great filmmakers, but Eli Roth is definitely someone that can do it.

So, what do you think of this casting? Are you excited for a Borderlands movie?
