Kodansha has officially announced a selection of their April 2021 manga releases. Although, they seem to all be in the same genre, more or less.

Hmm, they seem to have caught the love bug this month.

Kodansha Comics announces four new manga titles for us to enjoy in April 2021. Unfortunately, they’re all romances, so you might not enjoy them very much if you’re not a fan of the genre. One appears to be supernatural too, but it appears to be secondary to the romance. If you’re interested though, you can purchase them on Bookwalker, ComiXology, Google Play, Kindle, or izneo. Now, without further ado, here are the new releases:

Girlfriend, Girlfriend by Hiroyuki

Girlfriend, Girlfriend cover from Kodansha.
Apparently, this cover art isn’t final.

Girlfriend, Girlfriend (or Kanojo, Kanojo) by Hiroyuki is apparently the story of a boy named Naoya who decides to date two girls at once. However, this new title from Kodansha Comics isn’t a story about a guy cheating on his girlfriend. Apparently, Naoya actually does the sensible(?) thing and ask his current girlfriend for permission to date another girl alongside her. Definitely a radically different approach compared to other romances. It’ll be interesting to read this polyamory story develop, if indeed, this is what it is. If this is another harem story, I’m giving it a hard pass.

Girlfriend, Girlfriend will be available digitally release date on April 6, 2021.

Nina the Starry Bride by RIKACHI

Nina the Starry Bride cover from Kodansha.
Huh, a Cinderella story, of sorts. Also, cover art is still not final.

Nina the Starry Bride by RIKACHI appears to basically be a Cinderella story from Kodansha Comics with a twist. The titular Nina looks like she’s in dire straits after her brother sold her into slavery, but then her master, a prince named Azure, turns around and makes her into a princess. Except, Nina was a thief by trade, and a thief she is determined to remain, even in a palace. Based on the synopsis though, it looks like she falls in love with the prince. Although, how much will she steal before that happens?

Nina the Starry Bride will be available on April 13, 2021 for digital release.

The Honey-blood Beauty & Her Vampire by Toma Fuyuori

The Honey-blood Beauty & Her Vampire cover from Kodansha.
Sounds like Twilight: The Anime. Also, again, cover art not final.

The premise of Kodansha Comic’s Honey-blood Beauty & Her Vampire by Toma Fuyuori is really quite simple. Girl finds out vampires really like to snack on her. Girl suddenly finds herself with a bodyguard. Plot twist: said bodyguard is a vampire too for some reason. Second plot twist: said vampire bodyguard is a pervert with a sadistic streak. Sounds like Twilight crossed with 50 Shades of Gray, which of course, is exactly what we asked for, right?

Honey-blood Beauty & Her Vampire will be available digitally on April 20, 2021.

And Yet, You Are So Sweet by Kujira Anan

And Yet, You Are So Sweet cover.
Ah, much better. Finally, cover art is still not final.

And Yet, You Are So Sweet is the last of these romance manga that Kodansha Comics seem to be releasing. This love story starts off with the girl confessing her love to her crush, only for said guy to reject her and then ridicule her on social media afterwards. Yeah, asshole-ish behavior like that tends to turn off the romance. Fortunately, another guy overhears her situation, consoles her, and apparently goes out with her? Maybe? At least, that might be what his “odd solution” to her problem is.

And Yet, You Are So Sweet will be released digitally on April 27, 2021.
