USA Today correspondent Saria Wilson certainly has been busy talking to Star Wars alumni recently. First she spoke with The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson. According to Wilson, Johnson confirmed that yes, his Star Wars trilogy will still (eventually) happen. More recently she had a conversation with sequel trilogy star Daisy Ridley. We’re presuming the bulk of the interview focusses on Ridley’s upcoming film Chaos Walking. However, the interview took an interesting turn when the subject of Spider-Woman came up.

There has been plenty of speculation when it comes to how Marvel Studios is going to treat the Spider-Verse as it moves forward. From rumors of Spider-Man 3 being a live-action “Verse” entry, to a possible Madam Web film, no one knows for sure what will happen. One of the biggest speculations is that Olivia Wilde’s “secret” Marvel project will feature Spider-Woman…. And that Daisy Ridley is in the running to portray the character. That was news to Ridley, however.

Star Wars star Daisy Ridley talks Spider-Woman

Following the interview, Wilson posted the following to Twitter about her exchange with Daisy Ridley. It seems that the “Rey” star had no idea her name was in the Spider-Woman mix at all:

When asked if she’d be interested in crossing over franchises, she excitedly replied “oh yeah, for sure!” She wouldn’t be the first to jump from Star Wars to a comic book franchise, either. Samuel L. Jackson, of course, played Mace Windu in Star Wars and Nick Fury in the MCU. Likewise, Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) leapt into the DC Universe as Black Mask in Birds of Prey. So Daisy Ridley playing Spider-Woman? Certainly not outside the realm of possibility.

We’ll have see if that rumor holds true, especially in light of Ridley’s self-professed difficultly in finding employment after Star Wars. For now, even though she’d not heard the rumor about her casting, she’s very much open to it.
