She-Hulk

According to Deadline, actress Tatiana Maslany has won the role of She-Hulk. The new series from Disney+ is centered on the titular character and lawyer in the Marvel Universe. Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Bruce Banner, inherits her powers after a blood transfusion from him. More of the Hulk from Avengers: Endgame than the smashy Hulk from Avengers, She-Hulk has full control of her body and emotions when she’s the green hero. Maslany is most well known for her performance on the BBC show, Orphan Black.

Tatiana was on that show for five seasons and earned much acclaim for her performance. She was nominated for three Emmy awards and a Golden Globe. She also has appeared in the show Perry Mason on HBO. She’s a relatively unknown to most major audiences however. Which seems to be the way that Marvel is going with their casting of late. She follows in the footsteps of Brie Larson, Scarlett Johansson, and Angelina Jolie to lead a Marvel property.

Earlier this week the director and executive producer for She-Hulk was announced as Kat Coiro. So it makes sense that the star of the show would be announced slightly after that news. The show is still in development at Disney and Marvel. It follows their new plan for the Marvel Cinematic Universe of moving into the television side of things. Shows like Loki, Moon Knight, Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and WandaVision are all on deck for the streaming service either this year or next.
