The next Masters set from Wizards of the Coast, is the biggest one yet. If you’re feeling fatigue from all the sets coming out recently, this one might subside that feeling. Not only is the set much larger than other Masters sets, but it has two rares or mythic rares, and two foils in every pack. That means for every pack you buy or booster box, you’re guaranteed to get double the normal value of a pack. So that $280 price point looks a lot better than for any normal set. In addition to that value, the set is juiced up with great reprints from across Magic. Let’s take a deeper look into Double Masters.

You can check out the set right here. While it’s cool to have two rares/mythics and foils in each pack, the coolest thing might be how you draft it. Have you ever opened a pack and wanted to take two cards from it? This time around, for your first pick, you can. Yes, you read that right. You can take two cards from your first pick in each pack for draft. That means if you open a foil Jace, The Mind Sculptor and a Karn, Liberated, you can take both of them.

Double Masters is sure to please those regular players of MTG, but it also is for the collector. The VIP edition takes the cake for collector’s editions.

Double Masters VIP Edition

The VIP edition is similar to Collector Boosters for the various sets that have been released in 2019-2020. But this time there’s even more.

Contents: 33 cards + 2 foil tokens

  • 2 foil borderless cards (only found in VIP edition) (cards with a rare symbol will appear twice as often as cards with a mythic symbol)
  • 2 foil rares/mythic rares
  • 8 foil uncommons
  • 9 foil commons
  • 10 full-art basic lands (only found in VIP edition, 2 of each basic)
  • 2 foil full-art basic lands (only found in VIP edition, 2 randomly selected from among the 10 options)
  • 2 foil tokens (only found in VIP edition, token on both sides)

These borderless alternate-art versions of the cards are absolutely stunning. They make the product fully worth it in my mind. They’re going to be in EDH and pimped-out decks for years to come. Double Masters releases August 7th.
