A TV spinoff of Solo: A Star Wars Story seems to have been bounced around at Disney. However, if there are any plans for it, they aren’t happening anytime soon.

Hint: It's not Han Solo.
Especially not when one of these characters is already dead.

Never Tell Me The Odds!

On July 14, 2020; Jordan Maison of Cinelinx Tweeted that he heard that a spinoff series to Solo: A Star Wars Story was possibly in the pipeline. According to him, Disney+ was apparently working on a new series that would focus on various characters from Solo. Presumably, each character would get their own episode, or even an arc all to themselves. Or it could be that each character would actually get their own TV series. We just don’t know.

Unfortunately, also according to Maison, he hasn’t heard any updates on this supposed Solo TV series since the start of 2020. In fact, he even mentions that he doesn’t know if it even got beyond the “idea stage”, so it’s doubtful if there were ever any plans for a Solo series in the first place. For obvious reasons, we should take this entire concept with a grain of salt. At least, until we get something a bit more concrete.

Salt being applied to rumors of a Solo spinoff.
Or in this case: Twitter.

Even more unfortunately, concrete information about a possible Solo TV series might be long in coming. Disney has a whole bunch of Star Wars stories in the works, including the 2nd and even a 3rd season of The Mandalorian, a prequel to Rogue One starring Cassian Andor, and an Obi-Wan Kenobi series featuring the return of Ewan MacGregor in the titular role. The sheer amount of content here means that there’s just no time available to make a Solo series even if they had any inclination to do so. We’ll have to wait quite some time for that, I’m afraid.

Not Han Solo.
On the maximum end of the sliding scale of possible.

Conclusion

Solo: A Star Wars Story may or may not have had any plans for a spinoff series focusing on the other characters. Regardless of whether or not this is the case, the fact remains that we don’t know. And not only that, even if there had been plans for it, they’ve almost certainly been shelved for the foreseeable future. Disney just has too much on their plate to make a spinoff of a Star Wars movie that didn’t even do too well in the box office.

It’s a pity, really. Solo wasn’t a bad movie. At least, it wasn’t as bad as some people made it out to be. We’ll just have to wait a bit longer for more news about it.
