Netflix and Dreamworks have had great success with animated series like Voltron and The Dragon Prince, so it makes sense to make more. And Make more, they have: Dreamworks and Netflix have announced that they will making a new series based on the Fast & Furious film franchise.

The new Netflix series will be titled Fast & Furious: Spy Racers. You can watch the preview below:

Fast & Furious Goes Animated

Fast & Furious: Spy Racers will follow Dominic Toretto’s younger cousin, Tony. Like Dom and his team, a government agency ends up recruiting Tony and his crew for a secret mission. Their task? Infiltrate a crime ring to provide intelligence.

Of course, Tony and his crew will infiltrate the crime ring the only way they know how: racing fast cars.

Fast & Furious

In this new animated series, teenager Tony Toretto follows in the footsteps of his cousin Dom when he and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organization bent on world domination.”

Tim Hendrick and Bret Haaland will be the executive producers. Fast & Furious: Spy Racers will premier sometime later this year.

This news follows reports from earlier this spring of John Cena joining the film franchise. Likewise We may even get ourselves a Cipher spin-off.

No word yet if it these, other, or former Fast & Furious characters will be appearing in the show, or how connected to the movies they will be. Only time will tell.
