When the announcement came out for The Mandalorian for the new Disney+ streaming service, it got the Star Wars fans attention. Then the behind the scenes and sneak peek was shown at STAR WARS: Celebration and fans went wild. Here was our first look at this mysterious bounty hunter known as The Mandalorian. But the real question is, will The Mandalorian be enough to make Star Wars fans forget about not getting a Boba Fett movie?

Boba Fett

Like him or hate him, every STAR WARS fan knows Boba Fett. Many fans have been dreaming that they would get a Boba Fett movie. Fett first captured Star Wars fans’ attention in the 1978 STAR WARS: Holiday Special. Even though we didn’t see him again in the movies until STAR WARS: The Empire Strikes Back he became one of the most popular characters in the franchise. Unfortunately those dreams of a Boba Fett were shattered when the rumored film was scrapped after the poor box office performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Here is this new character that looks very similar to Boba Fett. He is carrying the same type of rifle that Fett carried in his animated appearance in 1978.

Jon Favreau in an interview with Good Morning America stated that mold of The Mandalorian came from Boba Fett. Favreau told GMA:

“I never felt like I saw enough of Boba Fett in the earlier films. There was so much hype around him.”

Pedro Pascal who portrays the title character in The Mandalorian, also added:

“He is a bounty hunter like Boba Fett and a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy.”

Boba Fett vs The Mandalorian

So as you can tell The Mandalorian came from the foundation that Boba Fett built in the STAR WARS saga. This show will give fans more of a look from the bounty hunter’s point of view. Which I know I am very excited about. But will it be enough to have fans forget about not getting a Boba Fett movie? Or, will it make fans want a Fett movie even more? Well we will have to wait until it airs on Disney+ on November 12th to find out.
