Jurassic World: Dominion was supposed to be the last Jurassic Park movie for a while. According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, the original writer of Jurassic Park is writing a new movie in the series. David Koepp is the writer of Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park: The Lost World, and now he’s back for a sequel.
Apparently, the film has been in development for a while now, and it’s far along enough that Universal wants to release it in 2025. There’s no director on board, but Frank Marshall, who oversaw Jurassic World, is back as a producer. As for the relaunch, per their sources, THR states, “It is known to be launching a “new Jurassic era,” per sources, with an all-new storyline. That would seem to rule out the return of the characters played by Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. And it seems characters featured in the original Jurassic Park movies, played by Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, would not be involved.” Steven Spielberg will executive produce via his Amblin Entertainment banner.
What Are The Details And Who Is David Koepp?
The film is being called Jurassic World, and not Jurassic Park, which also might mean that they’re not fully rebooting the entire premise. Jurassic Park is one of the most important film series in the Universal catalog. Six movies in the series have grossed more than $6 billion worldwide.
Koepp is one of the most prolific and successful screenwriters in Hollywood history; he’s behind the first two Jurassic films and others like Mission: Impossible, Spider-Man, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and more. For now, all we know is that Universal wants to get the film out in 2025, but as with everything in Hollywood, that could change at a moment’s notice.
