Deadline is reporting that actors Daniel Bruhl and Emily VanCamp will be reprising their roles in the MCU for the upcoming Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Bruhl played the villain Zemo in Captain America: Civil War. After losing his family in Sokovia, he executes his plans to destroy the Avengers. He does that by driving a wedge in the friendship between Captain America and Iron Man. VanCamp has been in several MCU films as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Sharon Carter, the great-niece of Peggy Carter.  Her character even shares an onscreen kiss with Steve Rogers in Civil War.

Kari Skogland has also been named director for all six episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. For those unfamiliar with Skogland’s work, she has directed many of today’s popular TV series. Episodes directed by her include The Handmaid’s Tale, The Borgias, Penny Dreadful, The Americans, The Killing, Vikings, House of Cards, The Walking Dead, and The Punisher.

Wait…there’s more ‘The Falcon and the Winter’ Soldier news!

The assumption is that Bucky Barnes will no longer be a wanted man after the events Endgame.   This means we should now see Bucky settling into “normal life”. Maybe as a member of the Avengers or maybe as just an average citizen (well…except for the super strength and the metal arm).

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Sebastian Stan spoke about what could possibly be in store for (Falcon) and the Winter Soldier:

I think it’s time for Bucky to go out there and have an identity outside of the circumstances that we’ve met him through. So, I don’t know, he might do all kinds of things. He might even go on a date. I don’t know. Scary world out there, you know? Apps, things like that. I don’t know what he’s gonna do. [Stan continues]…I think it’s gonna be a lot of dealing with Anthony’s character [Falcon] and Anthony [Mackie] himself which is always another character.”

Stan’s comments seem to fall inline with previous indications that the series will be shot in a “buddy cop comedy” style. This is easy to imagine given their tense onscreen relationship in past films.

The new Disney+ series focussing on Falcon and the Winter Soldier is scheduled to air in August 2020 and is said to be set directly after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
