They’re not out of the woods yet. Season 2 of Yellowjackets promises to ratchet things up even further.

“Once upon a time, there was a place called the wilderness. It was beautiful, but it was also violent and misunderstood. And it waited and waited to befriend whoever arrived,” teen Van recites ominously at the start of a new trailer.

Set to a wonderfully haunting Florence + The Machine cover of “Just a Girl,” the trailer offers a glimpse into the intensity of season 2. Treks through the snowy wilderness, casual allusions to murder, and references to the darkness that follows abound.

Yellowjackets tells the story of a high school girls soccer team who survive a plane crash in the remote northern wilderness. The original cast includes Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, and Juliette Lewis. Season 2 will introduce Elijah Wood, and also feature Lauren Ambrose, Simone Kessell, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, and Kevin Alves.

The show’s premiere season nabbed seven Emmy nominations. It also brought in over 5 million viewers each week, making it Showtime’s second most popular series.

Season 2 of Yellowjackets premieres March 24 on streaming and on demand for Showtime subscribers. It will air on cable March 26 at 9pm.
