Will fans get even more from the world of Dexter? Following the series’ recent return, it appears Showtime is now considering a spinoff prequel series.
Apparently, the new spinoff series would focus on the Trinity Killer. In the original Dexter series, John Lithgow plays the character, who fans know serves as a pretty significant part in the show’s plotline.
Unfortunately, we don’t have many more details about this project just yet. It’s still in the early stages, and hasn’t officially been greenlit by Showtime to series.
However, Showtime did confirm other Dexter projects in the works. The first, a spinoff titled Dexter: Origins, follows a young Dexter Morgan at the outset of his transition into the avenging serial killer he would become. Set in Miami, the series begins as Dexter graduates college to join Miami Metro, where he meets younger versions of many of the characters we came to know in the original series. Dexter’s family will also appear, including Harry (originally played by James Remar) and a formidable teenage Deb (originally played by Jennifer Carpenter).
In addition, the network plans to continue Dexter: New Blood. It will likely move forward from the perspective of Harrison (Jack Alcott).
