Thanks to a well-placed tweet from the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina team and a sizzle reel from Netflix’s holiday crew, fans can now rest assured that it won’t take until next All Hallow’s Eve to get a second helping of their favorite witchy teen.

Turns out that the Spellmans will be back along with The Church of Night on December 14th to have a little Satanic winter fun, although whether it acts as a bridge between the seasons or even more out of time than the rest of Greendale’s adventures remains to be seen. But what we do know is that the full title will be Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale, and that Aunt Hilda remains as lovable as ever. According to the summary, The Church of Night is due to celebrate the Winter Solstice –the longest night of the year – like any other Satan-fearing coven. This is when families gather around the Yule Fire to sing pagan carols and tell ghost stories, but perhaps this holiday the ghosts from the stories will come to visit the Spellmans instead.
Given the way things turned out for Sabrina at the end of the first season, it’ll be interesting to see what role (if any) her human friends play in the proceedings. Spoilers abound for those who have not finished yet – and if you haven’t, you should now – but Harvey, Roz and Susie knowing the truth provides the perfect opportunity for them to join in on the festivities no matter how much Sabrina wants to pretend she’s eschewed her mortal life for the sake of honoring her contract. But at the same time, a singular episode to appreciate the Solstice might mean bunkering down with just the witches and getting to know the Spellmans better before Sabrina attends the Academy full time.
