Is anyone excited for the sequel to the Detective Pikachu video game that spawned the film? Well, we have some good news on that front. Just a bit though.
The Return of Our Adorably Electrifying Sherlock?
In a very recent job recruiting site post, Creatures Inc. (the developers of the Detective Pikachu video game) basically revealed that they were still working on the sequel. The recruiting site takes the form of a developer talking about his job at the company. Said developer turns out to be “in charge of programming around drawing in the project related to the sequel to “Detective Pikachu”. Apparently, his job revolves around making 3D models for the upcoming game. At the very least, the fact that Creatures is recruiting for the project means that development is still ongoing.
Sadly, this is the only bit of Detective Pikachu 2-related news that recruiting site has for us today. Everything else is info that has already been released a while ago. Let’s go over what we know for now:
Detective Pikachu 2: The Sparse Details
The news about Detective Pikachu 2 broke in the same year that the live-action/CGI film came out. In fact, Screen Rant reported that mere weeks after the film‘s release in 2019, The Pokémon Company revealed that the sequel was currently in development for the Nintendo Switch. Not only that, but the game will even feature a different ending than what we saw in the film. I find that bit interesting because it seems to imply that the sequel might be an HD remake of the original game, but with possibly a different story to make it feel fresh. However, this is just speculation. So, take it with a grain of salt until we hear otherwise.
That was the last bit of info we heard about Detective Pikachu 2 until now. Up until this point, there’s been nothing but silence about this sequel for the past 3 years. That little tidbit we got today may not be much, but it’s all we have, and it’s better than nothing. At the very least, we know now that the game hasn’t been abandoned, by Nintendo or otherwise. Tune in later for more news about this sequel when we get it.
