Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and a Modern Warfare sequel are coming in 2022. The publisher revealed the details after a conference call with the developers and a blog post. The Call of Duty game this year is a sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare. That game is the best-selling and one of the most well-regarded Call of Duty games ever made. Both games are being developed by Infinity Ward and from the ground up with a new engine.

Outside of that, not much else was revealed but Activision promised: “to expect a massive evolution of Battle Royale with all-new playspace and a new sandbox mode.” That’s big talk, considering that Warzone is the hottest property that Activision has. In addition to the announcements, they also talked about improvements being made to the current product. A big portion of the blog post was about console FOV (Field of View).

They will not be adding the FOV option to consoles at this time, which is massively disappointing for console players. The FOV issue gives PC players a MASSIVE advantage, outside of keyboard and mouse control as well. Call of Duty has had a tumultuous year with the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard among other controversies. Hopefully, these changes and announcements are the next steps in making the series the best it can be.
