As it turns out, our favorite Spider-Man star Tom Holland is a big fan of the Jak and Daxter video game series. I mean, why else would he want to make a film about it? Even if he wants to make it “really weird”.

Tom Holland: Playing as Jak?

You have interesting tastes, Mr. Holland. I approve.

It seems that according to an interview with GameSpot, posted on Twitter, the interviewer asked Tom Holland (Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: No Way Home) if he ever got a “blank check” to adapt any video game into a movie, where he could star in it or play any role he wanted, then what would that video game be? Holland’s response turned out to be Jak and Daxter. As it turns out, he’s a fan of this series of story-driven action-platformer games by Naughty Dog, and would jump at the chance to make a film version of the games. Only, as it also turns out, Holland has a very…unique idea of what this potential film would be like.

Even darker than Jak 3’s box art.

Jak and Daxter: The Live-Action Film From A24?

Who knew that this joyful face could hide such a twisted mind?

Apparently, while Tom Holland does want to do a Jak and Daxter film (and a live-action film at that), he would make it “really weird”. He would want to play as Jak himself, obviously, but apparently he would want to make the film itself like what A24 would. You know, that film distribution studio responsible for giving us such delightfully horrific films as The Green Knight and Lamb. So the resulting film would not only be “really weird”, but also “dark”. He doesn’t mention any specifics, but well, he already mentioned A24. That should give you some idea of what he has in mind.

The humanoid lamb-thing he’s holding is a dead giveaway.

Yeah, this could either be a Jak and Daxter film that’s too weird for words, or it could result in something like a more fantastical Mad Max film. Either way, all this is just speculation until Tom Holland actually gets his wish. As weird as his ideas are, it might just make for a very interesting film. Fingers crossed.
