Grab your sonic screwdriver and get ready to save reality as we know it. It’s time for a new interactive Doctor Who adventure!
Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality comes from BBC Studios and Maze Theory. The game will allow players to work with both the Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) and the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) on a mission to save space-time. Along the way, you’ll face iconic foes from the Whoniverse, including Daleks, Cybermen, and Weeping Angels.
Check out your first look at the gameplay in the trailer below.
In addition to these recognizable Doctor Who villains, players will also go up against a brand-new foe known as the CyberReaper.
Here are some game highlights straight from the developers:
- Exterminate the havoc-wreaking ‘Reality Virus’ threatening the universe through ‘time glitches’ that distort the past, present, and future
- Explore immersive new environments like the ‘Chaosverse’: a corrupted alternate universe where worlds and timelines collide to create new adventures, encounters, and threats
- Packed with easter eggs guaranteed to surprise and delight fans of the epic sci-fi series
- The digital deluxe edition offers fans exclusive content, including additional Sonic Screwdrivers, as used by previous incarnations of the Doctor
Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality builds upon the VR experience The Edge of Time and focuses on story-driven gameplay. The game’s writer, Gavin Collinson, previously worked on Edge of Time as well as The Lonely Assassins.
“Players will love how they get to be part of a brand new Doctor Who story in Edge of Reality and actively be immersed in the compelling adventure, alongside the two Doctors,” said Maze Theory Studio Director Russell Harding. “We know fans love facing iconic monsters such as Daleks and Cyberman, but there will also be brand new foes equally as terrifying. The story around the ‘Reality Virus’ is incredibly tense and exciting, unfolding in brand new environments.”
Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality is available now on Playstation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. The game will also hit Nintendo Switch on October 28.
Doctor Who returns to TV for its thirteenth season on October 31.
