Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut will be another disappointment. There: I said it.

Why, you ask? Because Snyder just isn’t a very good director. The highest tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes for a film he has directed is 75% (Dawn of the Dead). Right after that, it dips to 65% (Watchmen). Two are at an abysmal 28% (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) and 22% (Sucker Punch).

The verage Tomatometer for films Snyder has directed? Just 50%.

I don’t know why Warner Bros. chose this guy to run in the DC Extended Universe, what until recently had been the most beloved collection of superheroes in the world. But we need to call a spade a spade, and he just isn’t a great director.

My basis for this piece started with thinking that Man of Steel was deemed as good and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as bad. Snyder directed both films. So I was going to ask “Which Zack Snyder will show up for Zack Snyder’s Justice League — the one who directed Man of Steel or the one who directed Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice?”

But… then I saw that Man of Steel has just a 56% tomatometer rating.

Then I thought, “Well, I could base this off Watchmen, since it must have a good score,” which, to review, is just 65%. Then I thought “How about Sucker Punch?” (Again, 22%). Then, “300?” (Just 60%.)

Simply put: Snyder has a track record of putting out duds. I also took note that he had directed just five films prior to directing Warner Bros. DCEU films that had scores from Rotten Tomatoes. That further made me wonder why Warner Bros. hired him at all for the DCEU. It’s an especially confusing decision since the average tomatometer for the films he directed prior to his first DCEU film was just 55%. (The average tomatometer for the DCEU films he has directed, by the way, is a terrible 41%.)

Based on those numbers, Snyder’s career thus far is largely one of failure. The question looming now is whether Zack Snyder’s Justice League will follow suit.
