Well, Netflix has just made a huge announcement about their upcoming Filipino horror animated series Trese. Among this announcement is a brand new official trailer. It’s…bloody good.

Captain Obvious: “Now that’s a lot of blood.”

As you can see, that Trese trailer from Netflix doesn’t skimp on either the blood, gore, or the horror. Which considering the original graphic novel by writer Budjette Tan and artist Kajo Baldisimo, is definitely staying true to the source material. I’m definitely getting hints of Supernatural from that trailer, with some Castlevania mixed in. If you’re a fan of either series, you’ll likely enjoy this one. Especially with the whole Filipino vibe going on here. You know, because the series takes place in Manila?

Set in a Manila where the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans, Alexandra Trese finds herself going head to head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings.

Trese synopsis

Not only that, but this show’s director and showrunner is none other than Jay Oliva. Oliva is responsible for Justice League Dark and The Legend of Korra. Based on the very positive reception both shows got, you know you’re in a pretty good one here. Dark maybe, but good.

Trese will premiere on Netflix on June 11, 2021. Interested in an animated Filipino fantasy horror crime series? Check this show out on that date.
