Sasaki and Peeps Ep. 12 “Real Life, Fantasy, and the Fourth World” ends the season with a bookend, bringing the circle to a close with a scene not unlike the scenes in the first episode. Even the title lampshades it. Then suddenly, it pulls the rug out from under us, and gives us a lovely sequel hook for the next season, which hopefully, there will be.

Sasaki and Peeps Ep. 12 “Real Life, Fantasy, and the Fourth World”: Details

Sasaki and Peeps NA key visual.
Honestly, it seems like the entirety of season 1 is just to prepare for the insanity of season 2.

Sasaki and Peeps Ep. 12 “Real Life, Fantasy, and the Fourth World” is the 12th and final episode (you can read reviews for Ep. 1Ep. 2Ep. 3Ep. 4Ep. 5Ep. 6Ep. 7Ep. 8Ep. 9Ep. 10, and Ep. 11 here) of this first season of this isekai comedy fantasy anime. Said anime is the anime adaptation of the novel series of the same name by BuncololiSILVER LINK. (Brave WitchesBofuriMy Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!) is the animation studio behind this anime.

Alas, even for this finale episode, we have no idea who is directly responsible for Sasaki and Peeps Ep. 12 “Real Life, Fantasy, and the Fourth World”. All we know is that Mirai Minato is still the director of Sasaki and Peeps overall. Kousuke AraiShun OoruiAkihiro NaritaShuka NishimaeYukari KuwayamaKenichi TokumuraHayato Kaneko, and Shunichi Uemura all co-produced this anime. Deko Akao is also the overall writer for this anime. Nippon Columbia collectively composed the music of this anime.

Speaking of music, the opening theme song for Sasaki and Peeps as a whole is “Fly” by Madkid. Meanwhile, “Aimai Girl” (曖昧ガール, “Ambiguous Girl”) by Aguri Ōnishi is the ending theme song.

When and Where to Watch

Sasaki and Peeps Ep. 12 “Real Life, Fantasy, and the Fourth World” premiered on March 22, 2024. You can watch this season finale episode only on Crunchyroll. In fact, you can watch this entire anime only on Crunchyroll for now, due to the show being a Crunchyroll exclusive.

Sasaki and Peeps Ep. 12 “Real Life, Fantasy, and the Fourth World”: Synopsis

I feel like this ending song is appropriate for the finale episode. I also feel glad that the anime doesn’t look like this.

Sasaki and Peeps, as of this episode, is no longer an ongoing anime. However, Sasaki and Peeps Ep. 12 “Real Life, Fantasy, and the Fourth World” only just made its premiere yesterday as of this writing. Thus, you will all get the official synopsis from Crunchyroll instead of a spoiler-filled plot summary. Or at least, you would if Crunchyroll had that synopsis for this episode. All I’m getting right now is a blank from them. Thus, you will get the synopsis of the anime overall as a consolation prize. You can check that out below:

Sasaki is a middle-aged office worker living in Japan. Feeling drained by the vapid corporate world, he heads to the pet shop in search of a new companion. There he finds an adorable bird named Peeps and takes him home. But Sasaki quickly learns that Peeps isn’t your average bird…he’s a powerful mage from another world! Together, they embark on a magical adventure filled with swords and sorcery.

Sasaki and Peeps Ep. 12 “Real Life, Fantasy, and the Fourth World”: The Good

Sasaki and Peeps Ep. 12 "Real Life, Fantasy, and the Fourth World" showing an angry Magical Pink.
Despite what she believes, she is definite not behaving as a good person.

Sasaki and Peeps Ep. 12 “Real Life, Fantasy, and the Fourth World” finishes the season on a high note by making it have some of the best story of the entire anime. The plotline is particularly complex in this finale episode, and the way Sasaki solves the main problem in this episode is quite creative despite its simplicity. In fact, it’s probably because of that simplicity that it allows the plan to succeed. After all, a simple plan has less moving parts than a complex one. Less chance of things going wrong there.

Related to this is the post-credits scene of this episode. Yes, there is a post-credits scene, for those of you who missed it. I’m not going to spoil it, but it basically sets us up for the next season of the anime. Which hopefully, we will get at some point in the future.

Another thing I want to mention is the animation quality. This entire anime has had a problem with the consistency of the animation, with the quality sometimes varying wildly even within the same episode. However, it seems like the animators at SILVER LINK. went all out for the finale episode. The quality has remained consistently high throughout the episode, even during the action scenes. Thus, my usual complaints about this are satisfied.

Sasaki and Peeps Ep. 12 “Real Life, Fantasy, and the Fourth World”: The Bad

This is the reason why an impenetrable bubble shield is a bad idea.

Honestly, my one complaint about Sasaki and Peeps Ep. 12 “Real Life, Fantasy, and the Fourth World” is the post-credit scene. Yes, the same post-credits scene I just praised. For all intents and purposes, it’s a sequel hook, and a rather sharp one as well. It just leaves us off on a cliffhanger, desperately awaiting the next season of the anime to finally find out what’s going to happen next. I’m not a fan of such an obvious cliffhanger, but hopefully, this means that we will get that next season. Hopefully. Fingers/wings crossed.
