In case you have’t heard, Lisa Frankenstein is the “Coming of RAGE” love story that follows a misunderstood teenager and her high school crush, who happens to be a handsome corpse. After a set of playfully horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness… as well as a few missing body parts along the way.

I absolutely LOVED this movie! Lisa Frankenstein is a fantastic film that embraces the eccentricities within each of us. As someone who proudly identifies as a “weirdo,” I thoroughly enjoyed it! The movie pays homage to the beloved films of the 80s while incorporating familiar tropes. Who doesn’t love exaggerated 80s fashion, music, a fashion show montage, and cheeky humor? However, what helps set it apart is its self-awareness, skillfully acknowledging and embracing its own quirks.

Kathryn Newton (Freaky) stars as Lisa Swallows and Cole Sprouse (Riverdale) as “The Creature”. Lisa Frankenstein was written by Diablo Cody, known for Juno and Jennifer’s Body. It also stars Liza Soberano, Henry Eikenberry, Joe Chrest, and Carla Gugino. The film is the directorial debut of Zelda Williams, Robin Williams’ daughter.

If you have not seen the film, Williams described Cody’s screenplay as “the most bonkers, wonderful zombie script I’ve ever read.” Williams previously directed several music videos, as well as the short film Kappa Kappa Die. Cody won an Academy Award for her Juno screenplay and also produced Lisa Frankenstein alongside Mason Novick. Jeffrey Lampert executive produces.

In some exciting news, Focus Features, Lisa Frankenstein will be available exclusively on digital platforms to own or rent tomorrow, February 27, 2024, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment! It’s time to fly on the wings of love!
