One of the most exciting aspects for Krypton Season 2 was the coming arrival of DC bounty hunter Lobo. SyFY revealed at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con that he was coming. Viewers unfortunately had to wait patiently for the character’s live-action debut.

But it looks like SYFY has bigger plans for the character beyond his Season 2 gig. Hours before Emmett J. Scanlan’s big debut in the Superman prequel drama, the network announced that a Lobo spin-off is officially in development. The actor is signed on to reprise the role should SYFY order it to series.

Cameron Walsh, the showrunner of Krypton, is officially attached to write and executive produce the spin-off. While the character just arrived in the season premiere, it will probably be some time before we hear if SYFY is giving the spin-off a pilot order before a potential series order. However, with a spin-off announced, it shows that SYFY has a lot of confidence in expanding the Krypton universe. That also shows that there is a strong chance for a Season 3 renewal.

With the Lobo announcement, this marks as the first new DC TV show to be put into development for the 2020-2021 TV Season. The upcoming TV season will see the arrival of four new DC dramas. Those include with Batwoman (The CW), Watchmen (HBO), Pennyworth (Epix) and Stargirl (DC Universe.) Given that Season 2 will still be airing by the time San Diego Comic-Con arrives, hopefully there will be some updates on Lobo during a potential Krypton panel.

Catch Emmett J. Scanlan as Lobo in the new season of Krypton which airs on Wednesdays at 10/9c on SYFY. Are you excited about a potential Lobo spin-off show? Sound off in the comments below and be sure to stay tuned here on That Hashtag Show for everything trending in geek pop culture!
