It seems that now that the SAG-AFTRA strike is over, bidding wars for various film ideas are now the norm, and Two for the Money is one of those bidding battles in the ongoing war. It seems a whole bunch of studios want to work on this film idea from Justin Lin and Dan Mazeau (Fast X). Fortunately, we now have a winner for that particular bidding war. As it turns out: the apple is the winner here.
Two for the Money: Apple Studios Details
The Hollywood Reporter has just reported that Apple Original Films/Apple Studios has won the bidding war for Two for the Money. Unfortunately, we don’t know which studios Apple was in a bidding war with, nor do we know how much Apple ultimately paid for it. All we know is that the bidding war involved multiple studios, and Apple is the winner.
What’s more, we even have some producton and casting details to go with that announcement. Apparently, Two for the Money will feature Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Star Trek Beyond, F9), as the director, with Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans, Fast X, Damsel) as the writer. Meanwhile, Charlize Theron (Hancock, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Old Guard) and Daniel Craig (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Casino Royale, The Golden Compass (2007)) will star in the film in the lead roles.
Alas, we have no idea who those lead roles are and what kind of story they will be in. That’s all very hush-hush for now. The most we have from The Hollywood Reporter is that “the story follows the evolution of a relationship between two career thieves, to be played by Theron and Craig, over the course of three big jobs”. Other than that: nothing. We’ll just have to wait for Apple Original Films to give us that info later. Along with a release window at some point. Eventually. Tune back in to THS later to find out more about Two for the Money when we do.
