Spy x Family season 2 Ep. 6 “The Fearsome Luxury Cruise Ship” picks up where we last left off on the cruise ship vacation of the previous episode. A cruise ship vacation that was very rapidly becoming a working vacation for the Forgers. Specifically: Yor Forger. She’s finding out very quickly in this episode that her client desperately needs her bodyguard services. After all, when the ship you’re on is full of assassins and there’s nowhere to run, there’s no better guardian to have than the Thorn Princess herself.

Spy x Family Season 2 Ep. 6 “The Fearsome Luxury Cruise Ship”: Synopsis

Not nearly as pleasant a cruise as this thumb makes it out to be.

Normally, this would be the part where I give you all a spoiler-filled plot summary of Spy x Family season 2 Ep. 6 “The Fearsome Luxury Cruise Ship”. However, this is the spoiler-free version of my usual reviews. Thus, you will all get the official synopsis of this episode from Crunchyroll instead. You can check that out below:

After boarding the cruise ship, Yor began her duty as bodyguard to Olka and her son. Meanwhile, Yor’s superior, Matthew, finds an assassin who is after Olka and her son.

Spy x Family Season 2 Ep. 6 “The Fearsome Luxury Cruise Ship”: The Good

It’s always a good thing to see bad guys suffering under Yor’s friendly politeness…and her superhuman strength.

The Cruise Ship Arc is one of the best arcs of the manga, and Spy x Family season 2 Ep. 6 “The Fearsome Luxury Cruise Ship” really shows off why. It’s really mostly down to the story in this episode. When you have assassins gunning for Olka left and right, only another assassin can hope to stop them. Fortunately, Yor is not only the best assassin around, but one who has superhuman strength, speed, and durability on top of that. Thus, there’s no better bodyguard for Olka here, and in darkly hilarious fashion too.

With a nice mix of bloody action and ridiculous comedy, Spy x Family season 2 Ep. 6 “The Fearsome Luxury Cruise Ship” alone is better than most entire action-comedy films. And really, I do mean bloody. When Yor makes a kill in this episode, she really means it. Nothing like impaling someone through the head to make sure that they stay down, after all. And yet, the way she takes out the assassins turns something that should be deadly serious into a weirdly hilarious comedy. Yor just does her bodyguard business in her typical friendly and polite manner as usual, contrasting with her violent actions in a stunningly hilarious way. Just like in previous episodes, it’s clear that Tatsuya Endo is a master of action-comedy.

Oh, and the animation by Wit Studio and CloverWorks is just as great as always. Especially speaking as a fan of the original manga. It’s always nice to see everything in color and in motion, as opposed to the monotone still images of manga volumes.

Spy x Family Season 2 Ep. 6 “The Fearsome Luxury Cruise Ship”: The Bad

You know it’s a very bad sign when Yor makes a face like that.

Do you not like action, comedy, or action-comedy? Do you not like a mix of comedy and thriller that puts most Western action-comedy films to shame? Well, I’m sorry. Not only is Spy x Family season 2 Ep. 6 “The Fearsome Luxury Cruise Ship” not for you, but I also don’t think this anime in general is for you. If you like, I can recommend anime series of different genres entirely to you in the comments section if you ask for it.
