When Werewolf by Night made its Disney+ debut on October 7, 2022; it was an instant horror hit for Disney and Marvel Studios. Critics and audiences alike howled positive reviews for this live-action series. On Rotten Tomatoes, both gave it pretty positive scores of 89%. Much of those positive reviews was likely because of the TV special’s presentation. The TV special was almost entirely in black and white as a reference to those old monster movies. Combined with the extensive use of practical effects rather than any CGI, it resulted in one of the most unique films to ever air on Disney+.

Thus, you can explain why Disney now wants to re-release this TV special on Disney+. The catch? This re-release is going to be entirely in color. Don’t believe me? Personally, I feel like Marvel is missing the point on this. Your mileage might vary on this.

Marvel Entertainment is proud to announce Werewolf by Night in Color with that trailer above on YouTube. As you might be able to expect from the title, this is that TV special…but in color. Nothing else appears to have changed about this TV special. It’s just that all the black and white scenes are now all in glorious color. Even the blood and gore is now in color, which means that you can now tell that it is indeed blood and gore. Seriously, you see a guy’s arm fly off in this TV special at one point. For a Disney film, it’s definitely not shy with the practically effected blood and gore.

Fortunately, it won’t be long until we find out if Werewolf by Night is better in color. That trailer reveals that it will make its premiere on October 20, 2023. Of course, it will be a Disney+ exclusive. Thus, you will need to shell out cash to watch both this version and the original black and white version.
