Assassin’s Creed Mirage is now launching a week earlier than planned on October 5th, Ubisoft has announced.

They revealed the new release date on Twitter, The new launch date seems to come from the game already going gold, which means that the launch version is finished.

“Assassin’s Creed Mirage has gone gold and is coming out a week early,” the tweet said. “On behalf of the entire team, we can’t wait for you to explore 9th Century Baghdad with Basim. Your journey now starts on October 5. Save the new date.”

Assassin’s Creed Mirage was announced at Ubisoft Forward 2022 and brings the game and series back to its roots in terms of gameplay and length. Previous games in the series like Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla extended the gameplay by quite a wide margin, becoming more open-world than the earlier games. They also focused heavily on combat. In Valhalla, you could dual-wield axes while leading raids on enemies that knew you were coming. In Mirage, there’s more of a focus on the stealth aspect of the games. According to the developers, combat is a last resort.

The map for the game will also be much smaller. Think back to Paris in Assassin’s Creed Unity than the gargantuan map in Valhalla, Origins, or Odyssey. Instead of the 50+ hours it takes to complete those games, this one should be more along the lines of 20-25 hours.

This latest game in the series takes players to the 9th Century and the city of Baghdad. Its a locale and time period that Assassin’s Creed hasn’t made their way to before.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 5th, 2023.
