With the new DCU in place, there are several changes that we’ve already seen. Some of these changes include recasting popular roles and a new film schedule from bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran. Superman has already been recast, Henry Cavill will no longer play the popular character, but David Corenswet is the new Superman. One character that has seen turmoil and comes back stronger than ever has been Harley Quinn. She was the centerpiece of David Ayer‘s Suicide Squad film, Birds of Prey, and then finally, the excellent The Suicide Squad from James Gunn.

Now according to a new rumor from internet scooper MyTimeToShineHello, it looks like Margot Robbie is getting back to the DCU after all. There were plenty of rumors surrounding her for the role of Sue Storm in Marvel Studio’s upcoming Fantastic Four film, but that role looks like it’s Vanessa Kirby‘s. Robbie has been one of the brightest spots of DC Films over the past couple of years, bringing one of the most popular comic book and animated characters to life. She’s played the role in three movies, and it looks like she’ll be making more appearances.

Harley Quinn – But Who Else Could Play Her?

Well, we already have an animated version of Harley with Kaley Cuoco voicing the character in at least four seasons of Harley Quinn on Max. There’s also the version of the character that we’ll see in Joker Folie A Deux coming up next year. It won’t be Margot Robbie, but Lady Gaga in the sequel to the smash-hit Joker. That film doesn’t look like it’ll be part of the mainline DCU going forward and is more of a one-off appearance for that version of the character.

As for other people, James Gunn could be looking for others to play the character; but he’s already worked with Robbie as Harley before and had a great time doing it in The Suicide Squad. The only wrinkle that goes into this whole thing is who the next Batman will be. That might dictate where the Harley Quinn character goes. With a show based on Amanda Waller already coming down the pipeline according to the DC timeline, that might also be a logical place for Harley to show up.

The new tenure for James Gunn and Peter Safran as the heads of DC Films hasn’t really started; because they still have several movies to release from the previous regime, including Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The films they have gotten out like The Flash and Black Adam have not done well at the box office.

We’ll have to see how this all turns out. With any kind of rumor on the internet, make sure to take this one with a grain of salt. Plans change all the time.
