As they say, here we go again. Once again we’re hearing of a potential Spider-Man 4 starring Tobey Maguire and directed by Sam Raimi. This time coming from one of the many actors playing an antagonist in Spider-Man 3, Thomas Haden Church who played Sandman in that movie as well as in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Church says

“There’s always been some kind of…I’ve heard rumors…that Sam Raimi was going to do another [Spider-Man movie] with Tobey [Maguire] and if that happens, I would probably campaign to maybe at least do a cameo.”

It’s unclear from the interview if the actor is referring to online rumours, reports, and leaks; or if this is something he heard while working with Marvel on Spider-Man: No Way Home. It’s worth noting that earlier this year, the actor mentioned that there had been discussions for him to possibly return.

Could Spider-Man 4 Happen?

With the Spider-Man rights still primarily with Sony, any Spider-Man 4 would still be released by them. There’s been no official announcement of a Spider-Man 4 but with various cast and crew members eager to return, the movie does have some chance of getting made. In addition to that, Spider-Man: No Way Home proved that nostalgia and goodwill towards the Raimi movies can go a long way at the box office.

While Spider-Man: No Way Home did provide some closure for many of the characters and the world of the Raimi-verse. It did leave a few open ends to existing characters that could be explored further potentially, or perhaps they bring in some new villains to be explored again in that universe.

Do you want to see a Spider-Man 4 with Raimi and Maguire returning? Or would you rather let sleeping dogs lie and focus on the future of the franchise with Tom Holland? Sound off in the comments below.
