CinemaCon 2023 has had some amazing highlights so far and today is no different. Today is Universal’s panel and they showed off their upcoming movie slate for the next year. Tonight we got a look at Oppenheimer, STRAYS, Trolls Band Together, and so much more. Here is a look at tonight’s panel at CinmaCon.

Universal Starts Things Off With Oppenheimer

Universal kicked things off with Christopher Nolan coming to the stage and showing a clip of the upcoming Oppenheimer film. Nolan says he cannot confirm or deny a new trailer is coming in roughly two weeks, possibly as soon as Guardians 3.

After watching the clip, Oppenheimer feels like the next evolution of a Nolan film and keeping with Nolan’s true suspense fashion. Oppenheimer seems to jump back and forth between real-time in a post-bomb meeting (B&W), and back to the events as they occurred (color). You can feel the tension just in the short clip that we saw. This film has it all; traitors, scientists wanting to go home, and more.

Next Up In The Panel Is Migration

Now we are getting to see some new footage from Illumination’s film Migration. Directed by Benjamin Renner, this film is about a family of Ducks who try to convince their overprotective father to go on a vacation of a lifetime. From the clip that we saw Migration looks great! It was really funny and Awkwafina wasn’t annoying. The cast for this film seems to be the right pick as well. Migration feels like the next Minions.

STRAYS

Next up on the film list is STRAYS. Will Ferrell has just come to the stage to introduce us to this next clip. Directed by Josh Greenbaum, STRAYS is about an abandoned dog that teams up with other strays to get revenge on his former owner.

The Exorcist: Believer Is Next

Next up on this great night of film updates and being introduced by David Gordon Green is The Exorcist Believer. We are now getting to see some footage from this upcoming film that will release in October of 2023.

The footage that we saw was more freaky than scary, but in line with Blumhouse horror film quality. This is the first film of a new trilogy. Next up is DreamWorks.

Teenage Kraken

Next up is Teenage Kraken directed by Kirk DeMicco. This film is about A shy teenager who discovers that she’s part of a legendary royal lineage of mythical sea Krakens. We also learn that Mermaids are not who we think they are. This movie will be an interesting mix of a teenage girl coming-of-age story and a Kraken vs. Kraken monster movie. Looks like a fun kids’ movie

Trolls Band Together

Now coming to the stage are Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake to introduce Trolls Band Together where we are getting to see some footage of the film. The footage we say Gets pretty trippy, but yeah it is a Trolls movie.

Kung Fu Panda 4

Jack Black has now come to the stage to talk about Kung Fu Panda 4. While we did not get any footage from this film, Jack Black did dramatically sing the plot. In this film, we will see Po on some new adventures with some new friends that include a fox named Shen.

Asteroid City

We have now switched over to Focus Features and up next is Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City. Here we got to see a never before seen extended trailer.

Big Fat Greek Wedding 3

The Holdovers

The Holdovers looks fun and endearing, with an R-rated coming-of-age story wrapped in one movie.

Drive Away Dolls

Next on the list is Drive Away Dolls. This looks to be a big girl power movie that checks a lot of boxes. Looks fun and has a fair amount of crazy.

Fast X

Fast X is next, with half the cast on stage. Han, Letti, Roman, and Jordana Brewster. This panel is starting off with us being shown clips of all the Fast and the Furious films. Van Diesel has also come to the stage. He says “I like this room better than the Oscar’s” Diesel also goes on to say “The Fast and Furious franchise is the longest-running franchise in movie history, with the same actors playing the same characters.”

Vin is pretty much ignoring the teleprompter and just talking to all these theater owners here. Also announced during this panel is that Fast 11 will be coming in 2025! We were also treated to an extended version of the latest trailer.

The Fall Guy

The stunt team from 87 North Productions is putting on a full-blown stunt show on stage. Now Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt have come to the stage. We are now being shown some footage. The Fall Guy is an upcoming American action thriller film directed by David Leitch, written by Drew Pearce, and starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.

The Fall Guy Looked very good. Lots of action, funny, and felt like Bullet Train if Quentin Tarantino wrote it.

WICKED

Universal went big on Wicked. Huge stages, they planted 9 million real tulips, lots of emotion, big songs, and it just looks good
