It has been a little over a year since it debuted, but it still haunts many collectors’ memories. I’m of course talking about the Krrsantan figure that was released as part of Hasbro’s Black Series line in 2022. In case you needed a reminder of the horror that was the figure, you can read our thoughts on that figure at your own risk. However, it appears Hasbro has learned its lesson, and has taken the time to develop a proper Krrsantan figure. One that is worthy of the ferocious Wookie. This vastly improved figure is available for pre-order now and is due out in Winter 2023.
SOME JUSTICE FOR KRRSANTAN
If I was going to try and cut Hasbro any slack on the original figure, it would be that it was based on the “comic version”. Which, ok fine, that means it’s technically not the same Krrsantan we saw in The Book of Boba Fett. But, since they released it right after the show debuted, it’s clear they were capitalizing on that appearance. However, my slack only goes so far and it doesn’t fully excuse them from releasing a repainted Chewbacca. Everything about the original figure screamed cheap and rushed. Thankfully this new figure is giving Krrsantan the treatment he deserves. Just look at the difference a year makes. The new 2023 release is on the right, in case it wasn’t already obvious.
KRRSANTAN NEW AND IMPROVED
The new Krrsantan figure is a night and day difference from the previous iteration. Whereas the 2022 figure was a poorly repainted Chewbacca figure, Krrsantan now has a unique sculpt that actually looks like the former gladiator. Also included is the large blaster rifle the Wookie carried in The Book of Boba Fett. Overall, it’s a very good-looking figure and in a small way makes up for the atrocity that was the 2022 release. Of course, it was a relatively low bar that was previously set, but this new figure will be a welcome addition to many collectors’ shelves.
