The Book of Boba Fett may only be two episodes old, but it has been full of many surprises. One of those surprises arrived on screen in Chapter 2: The Tribes of Tatooine as a Bounty Hunter named Black Krrsantan. Here is a quick run-down on the history of this dangerous Wookiee and why he might spell trouble for Boba Fett.

What We Know About Black Krrsantan – The Wookiee Bounty Hunter

Since we were first introduced to Wookiees and their ability to“pull people’s arms out of their sockets when they lose; Star Wars fans have always had an understanding that Wookiees have a fearsome reputation and are not to be taken lightly. The latest to make their way to the screen, the black-furred Wookiee known as Black Krrsantan, is no exception and might just be the most dangerous of them all.

Until the Hutt Twins arrival in Mos Espa to confront Boba Fett and his claim to Jabba’s territory, Black Krrsantan had only existed within the pages of various Marvel Comics’ Star Wars series’. Created by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca, Black Krrsantan debuted in the first issue of Marvel Comics’ Darth Vader comic series in 2015. But with their live-action arrival, Black Krrsantan is the latest entry to a growing list of characters such as Cobb Vanth, who have made their way from page to screen.

TRAINED AS A GLADIATOR

The history of Black Krrsantan leaves little question as to why the Twins would have selected him as their escort when dealing with Boba Fett. Originally trained as a Gladiator after fleeing Kashyyyk, which Boba references in their brief time together on-screen, Black Krrsantan volunteered his servitude to a pair of pit fighting crime bosses, the Xonti Brothers. After surviving the grueling and deadly training at the hands of the Xonti’s, he proved his fighting skills when he was able to dispatch a Trandoshan, a Kajain’sa’Nikto, and a Houk with his bare hands all during the same fight. Becoming a gladiatorial champion and cementing his reputation as one of the most deadly gladiators in the galaxy

BOUNTY HUNTER AND KENOBI CONNECTION

At some point later Black Krrsantan would find himself employed by Jabba the Hutt. This resulted in an encounter with Owen Lars and a subsequent fight with Obi-Wan “Ben” Kenobi during his time in exile on Tatooine. Is there potential we could see this meeting play out on-screen? Maybe in the much anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series? After the destruction of the first Death Star, Darth Vader went to Jabba the Hutt to contract two of his best bounty hunters. Black Krrsantan who was tasked with finding and capturing an agent of the Emperor and Boba Fett was hired by Vader to find Luke Skywalker.

TIME WITH THE DOCTOR

Following his time under the employment of Darth Vader, Black Krrsantan would frequently work alongside a Star Wars comic favorite, Doctor Aphra. Doctor Aphra is one of the most popular characters that find life outside of the movies or TV series. Eventually, Black Krrsantan in true bounty hunter form turns on Doctor Aphra in an attempt to collect a 20,000 credit bounty. Of course, this dissolves their tenuous working relationship.

Black Krrsantan arriving on screen is enough to raise the excitement level for Star Wars comic fans. But is there now potential that there is a Wookiee-sized door now open for Doctor Aphra to do the same?

Nothing is known at this time how Black Krrsantan came to work for the Hutt Twins. But if his past is any indication, it is not likely he was brought along for peaceful negotiations.
