Season 02 of Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 will launch on February 15th at 9:00 AM PT.

Get those Valentine’s Day dates out of the way and get ready to drop into the Warzone. Here is EVERYTHING you need to know about Season 02 for Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0.

  • Resurgence Mode Returns with New Warzone Map. Ashika Island welcomes all warriors willing to fight for honor and glory, as well as those who have a trained eye for secrets hidden in plain sight.
  • New Contract, Public Event, and More. Hijack a stolen vehicle from Shadow Company forces, hack into uplink stations, and attempt to discover all the secrets that this island may hold…
  • DMZ Expands to Ashika Island. The power struggle continues across a new Exclusion Zone with plenty of new threats to face and a clean slate for all Operators, who will have the opportunity to earn new permanent reward and Contraband.

Ashika Island Gives Resurgence An Extra Life

Ashika Island follows in the footsteps of Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep. However, this smaller map is still bigger than those two by about 30%. Developed by High Moon Studios, Ashika Island is a centuries-old village under siege by Shadow Company. There are plenty of points of interest on the island that you can explore and fight amidst. You can learn more about Ashika Island from the Call of Duty Blog post.

Ashika Island brings back Resurgence for those that want an actual fast-paced Call of Duty experience.

Modern Warfare II Adds Ranked Play And New Maps

  • Prove Your Skills in Ranked Play. Built off previous iterations, Modern Warfare II Ranked Play offers plenty of rewards and bragging rights to those most dedicated to being the best Operator in Multiplayer.
  • Two Core Maps, Two Battle Maps. Battlegrounds in Al Mazrah and Spain will be ready for Multiplayer infiltrations at Season 02 launch.
  • A Half-Dozen Modes. Infected, Gun Game, and Grind to be available at launch. Drop Zone, One in the Chamber, and All or Nothing set to start the party in season. Also, the return of Hardcore.

If you want to see if your squad is the best in the world at Modern Warfare II, now you can. Ranked play is making a comeback. This new mode uses CDL-approved rules, restrictions, maps, and modes while rewarding players with exclusive items and visible ranks. There are seven skill divisions from bronze to iridescent all the way to the top 250.

Four Multiplayer Maps Highlight Content

The four “new” maps for Season 02 are Dome, Zaya Observatory, Al Malik International, and Valderas Museum. Dome is a remake of an older Call of Duty map and Valderas Museum was in the Beta, but taken out before the launch of the game. The other two maps Al Malik International and Zaya Observatory are both the bigger-sized Battle Maps.

It’s incredibly disappointing that this is the level of content we get for multiplayer for the second season of the game. Two maps and they’re both not original maps that are new. If you like the Battle maps, then this might be the season for you though.

Five New Weapons, Three In The Battle Pass

Starting in the Season 02 Battle Pass, you can get the ISO Hemlock Assault Rifle and the KV Broadside Shotgun. The Hemlock is a powerful and enhanced rifle designed to take two types of ammo for any battlefield advantage. The KV Broadside Shotgun brings the power of the 12 gauge with the fastest-firing semi-auto firearm in the shotgun class.

The Dual Kodachis are available at Season 02 launch as a free weapon in the battle pass. They’re a powerful melee weapon with a longer-range attack. The crossbow makes its Modern Warfare II debut as part of the Path of the Ronin Event challenges or via store bundle.

Coming later in the season is the Tempus Torrent, a powerful marksman rifle. Also coming is new equipment, the Shuriken.

Infected, Grind, And Gun Game Make A Return

For fans of older modes, we’re getting three modes in Modern Warfare II. Infected sees one player start off as a zombie and as they kill the enemy players, they become infected. It’s tense fun that is great for playing with friends. Grind is like Kill Confirmed, but you bank the tags and have to deposit them without dying. If you die, all the tags drop and the other team can grab them. Gun Game starts you with a pistol and as you get kills, you move up in weapon classes until you get to the very top. Whoever goes through all the guns, wins.
