Fast Family, we’re halfway there. It’s Day 5 of celebrating the legacy of Fast and Furious, which brings us to a fan-favorite: Fast Five

If Fast & Furious rebooted the franchise, Fast Five solidified what it would turn out to be. In this movie, Dom and his crew plan a huge heist to buy their freedom while in the sights of a powerful Brazilian drug lord and a dangerous federal agent. It really shifted the focus of the franchise from standard street racing to focus more on big action pieces (brawls, gun fights, and the heist itself).

Check out the legacy trailer for Fast Five below.

Fast Five marks the point the franchise leaned into making an ensemble film. The gang’s (almost) all here in this one, as they say: Vin Diesel (Dom), Paul Walker (Brian), Jordana Brewster (Mia), Tyrese Gibson (Roman), Ludacris (Tej), Matt Schulze (Vince), Sung Kang (Han), Gal Gadot (Gisele). Plus, it introduces Elsa Pataky as Elena, a new love interest for Dom who shapes the arc of the rest of the series; and Dwayne Johnson as Hobbs, a character who ultimately gets his own spinoff (which also results in an off-screen feud with star Diesel).

The movie really solidified the “bigger and better” approach to the Fast Saga. It’s outrageous and fun – no wonder it remains a favorite installment among the Fast Family.

(It’s also the movie that really starts wracking up civilian casualties. Dragging that safe through Rio de Janeiro killed SO many people y’all.)
