It’s been a while since we’ve had some news about any of the Marvel series coming up on Disney+. Fortunately, our friends over at Discussing Film have some news about Wonder Man. They’re reporting that James Ponsoldt is in talks to direct episodes of Wonder Man for Disney+. Production on the series is supposed to start near the end of March 2023.
Ponsoldt’s breakout directorial effort The Spectacular Now made waves, and his run on television in shows like Sorry For Your Loss and Shrinking are earning him attention. It’s unknown at this time how many episodes Pondoldt would direct. Destin Daniel Cretton previously signed on to direct and executive produce Wonder Man, but his schedule has filled up since that announcement. He’s got the sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty on his schedule at Marvel. He also has an adaptation of the book American Born Chinese at Disney+.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen will take on the title role of Simon Williams/Wonder Man. Ben Kingsley is also set to star in the series reprising his role of Trevor Slattery. Better Call Saul/Breaking Bad actor Bob Odenkirk is also rumored to be in the series. Andrew Guest is writing the series.
We’ll keep you updated on this story as it develops.
