To everyone who has been waiting for Grounded to leave Steam Early Access: rejoice! For Obsidian have finally announced exactly when they will officially release this game!
Honey, We Finally Have a Release Date!
Creative director Adam Brennecke has just gone on Twitter to announce some big Grounded news as part of the game’s 2-year anniversary. The most important of these news is the game’s exact release date. That’s right, after 2 years of development in Steam Early Access (effectively an open beta), Obsidian are ready to announce exactly when they’ll release this survival game in a genuine 1.0 release. As it turns out: that date is September 27, 2022. As of this writing, that’s only 2 months away, so we won’t have long to wait before we get to play the full version of this game at long last.
In other news, Brennecke is also announcing that they have released the final major update for Grounded before the actual release. This includes flight mechanics, a revamp of the weapon and armor systems, and a Cookery building for a better meal system. There will also be a “secret” feature that will appear later called the “Home Stretch”. This will apparently be the final part of the game in preparation for the full release. The name suggests that you’ll finally be able to actually enter the house, but that’s just speculation for now. Take it with a grain of salt until we get official confirmation from Obsidian.
Grounded: Details
Grounded is a multiplayer-oriented survival game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios. The aforementioned Adam Brennecke is the director, with Bobby Null as the designer, and Justin E. Bell as the composer for the game’s music. The game runs on Unreal Engine 4. As you can tell by the Xbox publishing, this game is currently only for the PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. Clearly, they want to maintain an Xbox exclusivity with this game.
As for what Grounded is about? Well, Steam has a short synopsis for it. Check it out below:
“The world is a vast, beautiful and dangerous place – especially when you have been shrunk to the size of an ant. Can you thrive alongside the hordes of giant insects, fighting to survive the perils of the backyard?”
If you don’t want to wait for the full release, then you can purchase Grounded on Steam.
