He’s most well-known for his masterful performance as Paulie Cicero in Goodfellas, but Paul Sorvino had a wide and varied career that showcased his talents. He passed away at the age of 83 today. Sorvino was the father of Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino. He died of natural causes according to his wife Dee Dee.

Our hearts are broken, there will never be another Paul Sorvino, he was the love of my life and one of the greatest performers to ever grace the screen and stage.

His career spanned half a century through multiple periods of TV, Film, and stage. He starred in films like The Gambler, Romeo and Juliet (1996), Nixon, The Cooler, The Rocketeer, Reds, Dick Tracy, and of course Goodfellas. Sorvino also received a Tony nomination for his turn in That Championship Season in 1973.

He was 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds in his prime and played some of the hardest criminals on screen, but in person, he was the sweetest that could be. Go check out the video of his reaction to his daughter winning her best-supporting actress Oscar in 1996.
