With the incredible success of the Bridgerton series on Netflix, it was only a matter of time we would get some sort of spin-off. And now, Netflix and Shondaland have announced the cast of the upcoming limited series about Queen Charlotte

This currently untitled Bridgerton-verse prequel will center around Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power. The series will also tell the story of how a young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift. This event creates the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.

In more happy news, this limited series will also focus on Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury bringing in Ruth Gemmell and Adjoa Andoh to reprise their roles. So what are we waiting for? Let’s meet the new cat of the Ton!

Golda Rosheuval will reprise her role as Queen Charlotte. However, India Amarteifio (Line of Duty) will portray Young Queen Charlotte. At the point the prequel takes place, Charlotte is betrothed to the mysterious King of England against her will. However, when Charlotte arrives in London she quickly realizes that she is not exactly what the royals had been expecting. During the series, we get to see her learn to navigate the palace, the ‘ton, as well as her unpredictable husband as she grows into one of Europe’s most unforgettable monarchs.

Taking on the Dowager Princess Augusta is Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones). She is determined to maintain her family’s power. So, she does what it takes to secure her sons’ place as monarch amidst a changing and modernizing Brittain.

Playing our young King is Corey Mylchrees (Sandman). He is handsome, charismatic, as well as a bit of a mystery. George has always given in to the restraints of wearing the crown…until now. Having a new wife thrust upon him, and having to share his space, as well as his bed, George now faces the hidden demons head-on.

We’ve learned very little about Lady Danbury in Bridgerton. So, now it’s time to dive in. Arsema Thomas plays the young Agatha Danbury. A young woman under the thumb of a much older husband. Agatha uses Charlotte’s arrival to find her own way into society. With her experience and knowledge of the once divided social scene, Agatha quickly becomes a guide for the new Queen. During which she finds her own voice and strength that we’ve all come to know on the show.

There are a handful more characters coming to the ‘ton. Rounding out the cast are Sam Clemmett (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – West End and Broadway) playing a Young Brimsley, Richard Cunningham (The Witcher) plays Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim (Nancy Drew) plays Adolphus, Rob Maloney (Casualty) plays the Royal Doctor, and Cyril Nri (Cucumber) plays Lord Danbury.
