Get ready to sing, dance, and stream: Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story is coming to Disney+. The Oscar-nominated musical adaptation officially begins streaming on the platform today.

The film adapts a screenplay from Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Tony Kushner. The reimagined musical tells the classic tale of fierce rivalries and young love in 1957 New York City.

Since its release, West Side Story has received rave reviews from critics, as well as a ton of award nominations. The film received seven Academy Award noms, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actress for Ariana DeBose. Other nods include 11 Critics’ Choice Awards nominations and three Golden Globe wins.

The film introduces Rachel Zegler as Maria. Additional cast members include Ansel Elgort (Tony); Ariana DeBose (Anita); David Alvarez (Bernardo); Mike Faist (Riff); Brian d’Arcy James (Officer Krupke); Corey Stoll (Lieutenant Schrank); and Josh Andrés Rivera (Chino). Rita Moreno, who won an Oscar for her role as Anita in the 1961 feature, also appears as Valentina, the owner of the corner store where Tony works. Moreno also serves as an executive producer on the film.

West Side Story brings together Broadway and Hollywood for an award-winning creative team. Tony Award winner Justin Peck choreographed the musical numbers in the film, while Oscar nominated composer and conductor David Newman (Anastasia) arranged the score. Renowned Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor and Grammy winner Gustavo Dudamel helmed the score recording. Tony Award winning composer Jeanine Tesori supervised the cast on vocals; and Grammy nominated music supervisor Matt Sullivan executive produced the film’s music.

The film adapts the original 1957 Broadway show, and features original choreography by Jerome Robbins.

West Side Story is streaming now on Disney+. And don’t forget to tune in for the Oscars on March 27 to see if the musical can collect even more awards.
