From stage to screen to superhero? Musical star Anthony Ramos has reportedly joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a key role.
According to Deadline, Ramos will appear in the upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart, which follows Riri Williams, a teen genius who invents the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.
While Ramos’s specific character details have not yet been revealed, sources say his appearance in Ironheart won’t be a one-off. He is expected to appear in additional Marvel projects down the line.
Marvel’s Ironheart recently tapped Chinaka Hodge as head writer. The story follows a character first introduced to Marvel comics in 2016, Riri Williams. Riri is a 15-year-old MIT student who manages to reverse-engineer Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit. Marvel previously cast Dominique Thorne in the role. Ahead of her series debut in Ironheart, she’s expected to appear in the Black Panther sequel, Wakanda Forever.
Ramos landed a breakout role on stage as part of the original cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton. He later reunited with Miranda for the screen adaptation of musical In the Heights, which released last summer. Ramos also has an upcoming role in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, set for 2023.
